since i've graduted from the tradition of "push-up club" (discovered at my former place of employment, the marketing store, where all the men in the company would assemble in a closet (one at a time, please) to do as many push-ups as possible to combat mid-afternoon drowsiness), i have discovered that i need some kind of tracking method to ensure that i am developing according to the plans that i have for next summer's triathlon activities (and of course to keep record of missed sessions!).
i've tried to start out at a reasonable pace, rather than jumping into the routine i had when i was 22, in order to avoid incapacitating injuries. this first week has been more about setting a baseline that i can grow from within the next couple of months, and i think i've found a comfortable, but aggressive place to start.
the problem with logging my progress is that there are so many variables: which exercises i will do, how often, how much weight, how many repetitions, how far travelled, how fast, and all over the progress of the next few months. and i will certainly be adding new exercises as i go.
i think that the best way to do this is to break the training results down by major muscle groups (and thereby, the days on which i work those groups) and types of activities and then log each day's work. this is all pretty elaborate, so i've decided to create a new channel in my website devoted to the training log.
this way, everyone can see what a girlie man i am now, and hopefully see my progress over the winter and spring. if you want, feel free to work along side and compare your results to mine.... Wally.
