this week, i finally got my highly coveted iPhone 3G.  it was the fruition of months - years really - of desperately wishing that i didn't have to tote around my ipod (my former most favourite piece of technology ever created), my cell phone, and my digital camera.  this thing easily satisfies all three of those requirements and gives me continuous access to email, the internet and google maps.

the impact that something like this has for someone like me is incalculable.  i can do my banking anywhere.  i can take a picture of anything and immediately post it to my (other) blog.  i can enter new contact information for people i meet and have it synch with my laptop and other systems anywhere (like a club or a museum or a convention).  i can call anyone i know from anywhere.  i don't need to get lost ever again because i can use google maps to tell me where i am and how to get where i want to go.  i can go to the gym and have all my workout music there along with my phone, my blogging tool, my camera, my contact manager and my directional assistant.

am i frustrated by what i had to go through to make it all a reality?  you bet!  am i overjoyed to have 16GB of storage for all of the digital assets that keep me comfortable and really quick 3G access to everything that i don't already track electronically?  look at the smile on my face in this picture and judge for yourself.

song of the day for enjoying technological rapture: the humans are dead, flight of the conchords
